Providers

We have created links to major OBS-related sources for any healthcare provider interested in starting a new practice or maintaining accreditation and certification requirements for an already existing OBS practice. Many professional societies have created guidelines for safe OBS practice. In addition, rules and regulations governing OBS practice vary significantly by state.

In order to promote safety and encourage states to develop guidelines, the American Medical Association (AMA), with input from the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) published a consensus list of 10 AMA Core Principles of Office Based Practice.

This list is summarized below:(full text: seeĀ http://www.asahq.org/Washington/AMACorePrinciples.pdf)
